The Transmission Model of Communication
The Transmission Model of Communication is
simply to have a sender and a receiver communicate using mass media for interaction
with one another and with the public. The medium is constantly changing as
various tools of communication are in play such as interpersonal, group to
person, person to group, newspaper, TV and social media. The sender encodes or
creates a message and it is sent with a medium while the receiver decodes or
understands the message and sends some feedback to the sender. Social media is
a great way to send a message quickly using an array of social media platforms
such as Facebook and Twitter. However, interpersonal communication is still the
most effective type of communication, as it tends to be more detail oriented
and fewer agendums driven. There are many concerns with regard to social media.
Facts can be misconstrued or misrepresented. Loss of privacy is a real issue as
well. Social media is always changing. We, the public, need to control the
narrative of social media.
